Commuters showed their support for cycling on ‘Bike to Work Day’ as hundreds of cyclists met at Belfast’s Gasworks site and cycled together to Belfast City Hall for a free bikers’ breakfast.
Bike to Work Day is one of many cycling events to take place during Bike Week, which runs from 15-23 June and is promoted by DRD Travelwise NI. The aim of the initiative is to highlight the numerous health, financial and environmental benefits associated with cycling and encourage as many people as possible to get involved. Details of cycling events can be found at www.nidirect.gov.uk/travelwiseni or facebook.com/Travelwiseni
